Introducing our new Team Member

Meet Ruby, our new Community Engagement Coordinator. As Lily shifts into her new role managing volunteers, Ruby will be leading the 415 Food Hub and the team alleviating food insecurity in our neighbourhood.

Here's an introduction from Ruby:

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to introduce myself as the new Community Engagement Coordinator for NeighbourLink North York's Food Hub. As a graduate of Social Service Work - Immigrants and Refugees program at Seneca College and Social Work at York University, I have a passion for social justice.

Since moving to Willowdale in 2016, I've been involved with some fantastic organizations in our neighbourhood. However, I've also witnessed significant changes in our community, including the loss of essential services like grocery stores and small businesses, and widening gaps in social services. That's why I am thrilled to join NeighbourLink, an organization that is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind. I'm passionate about serving marginalized individuals and ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need.

Having grown up in a working-class, immigrant family, I understand the challenges that lower-income families and individuals face, and I'm eager to use my skills and experience to assist them through the Food Hub. I'm excited to be part of an organization that's dedicated to making a positive difference in our community. Over the past couple of years, I have been following NeighbourLink's work, especially their efforts to connect people in Willowdale and establishing the Food Hub during the pandemic, and I look forward to continuing to build on those efforts.

Looking forward to meeting and working with you all!

Ruby
