Our services include rides to and from:

  • Medical appointments

  • Regularly scheduled shopping trips to Centrepoint  Mall

  • A Day Away Club

  • The Active Living Centre

Our transportation service operates daily Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This service is available to eligible seniors living within our service area. Call us to find out more: 416 733.4111.

 

Transportation Services’ consists of 6 vehicles and staff drivers. A nominal fee applies. 

 

Eligibility: 

 

  • Users must be members of and registered with our Transportation Department.  

  • Users must live within our catchment area  ***

  • Users are unable to use public transit because of physical or cognitive limitations.  

  • Users are not eligible for Wheeltrans service. Our vehicles are not wheelchair accessible.

  •  Users must be able to access the vehicle independently or with minimum assistance

 

Hours of Operation: 

 

Rides are provided from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. *9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. are designated for A Day Away Club ( a program where adults “get away” and engage in activities for a few hours) pick up and drop off.

 

****Transportation Service Boundaries:

 

  • Bathurst Street to Victoria Park Avenue and Steeles Avenue to Highway 401 

  • Exceptions are made for the following destinations:  

  • Valleyview Residence  

  • Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care  

  • Sunnybrook Health Centre  

  • Toronto Rehabilitation Centre 

  •  CNIB

Fees:  

  • 0-5 kilometers $6.40 per one way ride 

  •  5-10 kilometers $10.40 per one way ride  

  • 10-15 kilometers $15.10 per one way ride  

  • 15-20 kilometers $18.50 per one way ride  

  • 20-25 kilometers $22.65 per one way ride  

  • over 25 kilometers $1.05 per kilometer 

 

Requests: 

 

Requests for rides must be made through the Transportation Supervisor. Drivers will not accept bookings for rides. 

 

Cancellations:

 

 Contact the Transportation Supervisor 24 hours prior to the appointment. If the client fails to give the proper notice, the client will be charged a fee.

 

Termination of Participation: 

 

Clients may become ineligible to use our service due to a change in circumstances, i.e. become able to drive their own vehicles again or becoming eligible for Wheeltrans, etc. Alternate transportation arrangements may be discussed with the Transportation Supervisor.

Description: iRIDEplus is for:

 

-Frail seniors and adults with age related conditions

-Adults with physical or cognitive disabilities

-Clients requiring assistance when travelling

-Clients for whom it physically prohibitive to use public transit

 

Service may not be provided to individuals who:

 

-Require lifting and/or weight bearing assistance

-Are unable to enter and exit vehicles independently, unless they have a personal escort accompanying to assist them

-Present with a behaviour that may put others/himself/herself at risk

-Are under the age of 18

 

*We reserve the right to use discretion in any and all rides with respect to issues of client and staff safety.

 

Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30am-5:30pm; Saturday from 9am-5pm. Call iRide for Sunday hours. Rides are subject to availability.

 

How to request a ride and costs:

 

Online requests must be made at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to the requested trip. Please be aware that filling out this form does not guarantee that your trip will be approved - iRIDE staff will contact you with trip confirmation.
