NeighbourLink North York is a locally based Christian community development organization. Our mission is to engage and empower neighbours to care for each other in practical, relational, and sustainable ways that give everyone the opportunity to live out their potential.
We believe transformation happens when we come together as friends, neighbours, churches, organizations, and business owners to address poverty, social isolation, discrimination, violence, and other community gaps and injustices.
NeighbourLink North York serves the North York area and includes outreach through the
We Love Willowdale network, supporting the Willowdale community.
Our Approach
NeighbourLink North York has a unique approach to community development, which consists of two fundamental pillars. The first pillar is Community Building, which focuses on bringing neighbours together and fostering a sense of belonging in the community. By providing opportunities for neighbours to get to know one another and build meaningful relationships, we believe we can create a stronger and more connected community.
The second pillar of our approach is Community Care, which is how we support and assist the most vulnerable in our community. This includes various services and programs, such as our food hub, food programs, wellness checks, and referral services. By addressing the needs of our community members struggling with poverty and social isolation, we aim to create a more compassionate and supportive community for everyone.
Both pillars work in tandem to create a thriving and connected neighbourhood. Through these pillars, we have created a Network of Neighbours Helping Neighbours, which provides meaningful volunteer opportunities for community members while meeting the needs of neighbours with food insecurity, social isolation, and poverty.
