November Volunteer of the Month

On December 5th we celebrated International Volunteer Day!

We want to introduce you to our November Volunteer of the Month: Sarah!

We met Sarah when she was singing along as an attendee at our Christmas market last year! After learning about what we do, she started volunteering. In this past year, she’s made a profound impact on our organization. She’s always willing to jump in and brings her signature warm energy to every interaction with our clients. We’ll never forget when she stayed back an extra hour after our senior event to keep a gentleman company while he waited for wheel trans to pick him up.

When asked to reflect on her volunteer experience, Sarah said,

"I have always enjoyed volunteering in my community. Meeting new people and being able to give back are two things that are very important to me. It's also an amazing way to learn about my neighbourhood and the wonderful things that can happen when neighbours come together.

I began volunteering with NeighbourLink by helping out at the 415 Food Hub as a greeter. I met so many lovely people at these events that I extended my volunteering to include fresh food deliveries and helping with the seniors' programming.

I continue to volunteer with NeighbourLink for many reasons. They are an organization that cares about people in their community. Whether it's alleviating isolation or tackling food insecurity, the level of community care they provide is amazing. I am thrilled to play a small role in this and look forward to supporting NeighbourLink's vision of neighbours helping neighbours."
