What is the Youth Mobilization program?

Youth Mobilization is a summer opportunity running for its 5th year which empowers local youth to take initiative in identifying and addressing areas in their community they wish to improve. It runs from July to August. Last summer, we have worked with 75 youth who organize and run initiatives like park clean ups, technology help for seniors, drop-in events for children (e.g. Reading Buddies), as well as an artisan entrepreneur market for young artisans.

You will be notified via email once you have completed the sign up process at either or both of the links shared above. If you sign up on Better Impact and your volunteer application is approved, you would be eligible to join our Discord server and receive updates from there too.

What should I expect to be participating in?

Accepted Answer

Weekly volunteering opportunities for youth! There will also be leadership opportunities as a Youth Leader where you will learn skills like social media creation, working in a team, budgeting and outreach for events.

In previous years we have organized events like weekly park clean ups, monthly tech help events for seniors, youth entrepreneurship fair for youth to run a booth for their small business, painting events and recreational drop-in sessions at local parks with both art and sports components.

What will I gain from Youth Mobilization?

You will gain what you put in! Whether you simply want to give back to your community, or you want to take things further as a youth leader, you will gain skills transferable to any future job or volunteer work. As a youth leader some skills you would develop include budgeting for events, outreach, creating social media graphics, leadership and teamwork skills.

During the summer our main focus is on the Youth Mobilization program. There are also volunteer opportunities every March Break. During the year we have volunteering opportunities regularly for our registered volunteers which you can sign up for through Better Impact.
