Dear Readers,

As Thanksgiving draws near, many of us are already picturing the golden turkey on the table, the laughter of loved ones, and the warmth of gratitude filling our homes. But behind the joy of this season, there are also families quietly wondering how they will put a meal on the table at all. This is where NeighbourLink steps in—not just with food, but with dignity, compassion, and a reminder that no one is ever truly alone.

The Heart of NeighbourLink’s Thanksgiving

NeighbourLink is preparing for its biggest Thanksgiving yet. With the growing demand in our community, the need has nearly doubled compared to last year. Through its two food banks, NeighbourLink now supports more than 250 families each month, offering not just non-perishable goods but also fresh produce, poultry, dairy, and household essentials.

This Thanksgiving, NeighbourLink is taking on the challenge of providing:

  • Two full Thanksgiving distributions—one at each food bank.

  • Turkeys, chickens, hams, vegetables, pies, and all the trimmings to create complete meals.

  • 550 cooked meals delivered with care to seniors, newcomers, and individuals who may not have the ability to prepare a holiday meal themselves.

It’s a bold goal, but if there is one thing I’ve learned about NeighbourLink, it’s that they don’t back away from a challenge when people are in need.

Why This Work Matters

ree

I’ve seen up close how NeighbourLink operates. It’s not just about handing out food; it’s about restoring hope. A box of groceries may seem ordinary, but to a single mother who has been stretching her budget until it breaks, it feels like relief. A cooked Thanksgiving meal may look simple, but to a senior living alone, it feels like belonging. Every meal distributed is a reminder that this community cares. That we notice, that we remember, and that we stand together.

How You Can Join in

NeighbourLink can’t do this alone, and that’s where you and I come in. This is more than fundraising—it’s an invitation to be part of something bigger than ourselves.

Here are a few ways you can make a difference right now:

  1. Give generously. Every donation brings us closer to the goal of filling 250+ homes with Thanksgiving dinners.

  2. Spread the word. Share this blog, tell your friends, encourage your workplace or community group to get involved.

  3. Offer your hands or resources. If you own a business, run a service, or have supplies to contribute, NeighbourLink welcomes your partnership.

A Table Large Enough for Everyone

When we talk about Thanksgiving, it’s easy to focus on what we receive—family time, good food, and blessings. But the true spirit of Thanksgiving is in what we give.

NeighbourLink’s mission is simple yet profound: to create a table large enough for everyone. And this year, with your help, that table will stretch further than ever before.

So, dear readers, I invite you to be part of this Thanksgiving miracle. Your support—whether through a donation, a share, or even a prayer—will help ensure that no one is left out of the circle of gratitude and grace.

Let’s make this Thanksgiving not just a holiday, but a testimony of what happens when compassion moves us to action.

“When a neighbour's plate is full, our community’s heart is whole.”
