Meet Your Neighbour Week June 15-23

Includes Willowdale Fun Day & Willowdale Yard Sale Day to raise funds to alleviate social isolation

Back By Popular Demand, NeighbourLink North York presents Meet Your Neighbour Week June 15-23, a time to connect with fellow residents and alleviate social isolation.

Willowdale neighbours can host a meet up on their driveway or in a park to get to know the people on their street or on their floor. NeighbourLink’s website features meet-up ideas, invitations and posters to make hosting a meet-up super easy. They also invite businesses, faith organizations, cultural groups and clubs to register a public meet-up that gets shared throughout the community.

The kick-off to Meet Your Neighbour Week is the inaugural Willowdale Fun Day Saturday, June 15 at Willowdale Park. The day will include children's activities, games, pizza and prizes and is hosted by Sunnyside Up Camp, in partnership with the Willowdale Central Ratepayers Association and supported by NeighbourLink North York.

The culmination to the week is the 4th Willowdale Yard Sale Day. This is an opportunity to meet your neighbours and shop your neighbours while engaging all Toronto residents to explore North York.

75+ yard sales can be found across the neighbourhood and at the Spring Garden Market at 112 Spring Garden Avenue. The market runs from 9am-12pm featuring 50+ vendors and a pancake breakfast

On June 22nd, neighbours can:

● Host a Yard Sale on their property

● Host a Yard Sale or Mom2Mom Sale at the Spring Garden Market

● Host a Yard Sale at their condo

All sales are added to the interactive Willowdale Yard Sale Map to help vendors with advertising and help shoppers find the sales. Last year’s map received over 40K views.

The market is made possible thanks to Spring Garden Baptist Church and Team Forward Real Estate.

According to previous participants, the event is a fantastic way to meet people and offers "a great culture of friendliness" while supporting a good cause with their yard sale.

All funds raised through registration go toward helping children, families and seniors through NeighbourLink’s food bank and mobile food program.

There is also a strong environmental component to the event. Yard sales provide a means of saving the landfills and reducing the heavy, fossil-fuel laden footprint of global manufacturing and shipping.
